Serveral LANs later, I was skilled enough to beat them all up, and they just wouldn't invite me anymore... (?!)
I remember that I talked to my good old friend PAC (now he's known as The Great Imperator TGI) who was already connected to the internet for some years, when I first learned about the fact that the internet could also be used to play games
and Quake2 even. REALLY?!?! Yiiiiiiiha! 8o)

In May 1998, I got a modem 56k and started my first internet game on a server called 'necron99'. Boy, I used to be 'King of the LAN' and so I erroneously thought I could beat every looser in the net. I turned out to be a giant looser, killed faster than I could say Big Gay Al... Later I spent most of the times at 'quake.de' where I found many people that seemed to be always there.

So in July 1998, I entered as the 8th member the german clan called 'Lava-Backflips' that was different from all other clans I ever met before. They were a bunch of individuals that had FUN as a common basis, not 'being-the-best-in-the-world' as many other clans. Of course, their clan tag was '[LoL]... ;o)
